Why a film about polo?
Normally you would say: “Well there are some very good reasons for making another film about XYZ and the first of them, of course, is that there cannot be too many films about such a great sport.”
Well, this is not the case with polo!

There have been numerous (excellent) books and many (very good) reportages about polo but, so far, no good and comprehensive film has been produced presenting the sport at the various locations throughout the world and from many, totally different personalities and angles. We wish to use the definition of a “good film” from one of the world’s finest film institutions, the Swedish Film Institute. A good film is “generous in content and expression, with an honest intention and excellent technical skill.” It is worth stressing the requirement for an honest intention.

Film remembers the history and the fascination of polo in a way that not one of the other media is quite able to match.

Film does something that none of the others can do to the same degree or with the same intimacy – with the same veracity, because on film we can see the real thing actually making it's magic – and in close-up.

This film is a tribute to polo, just as many other previous films were tributes to artists, legends and great personalities.

The contributors of our film include the most talented polo players and experts, experienced grooms, sponsors and benefactors of polo. All these people felt strongly that this film should be made and their intimate knowledge of the subject gives a quality of conviction and authenticity to their personal recollections which is telling.
